Angels
At the base of
the Angel Diary series is the basic form of an angel.
The relationship
of this form to the surroundings is modified: the wings are spread or folded,
the head is up or down, the legs are spread out, closer together or not visible
at all, the body is vertical or horizontal. The basic form remains the same
throughout.
The movement of
the limbs, and the relation of the angel to the space is what interested me in
this series. It leads to thinking about modularity, assembly and disassembly.
The changing position of the organs in the prints is a kind of attempt to
describe movement in space on the page; The changing organs of the angel,
continue to change on the page as in the air and therefore a series is
necessary.
